Nope! There are no harmful chemicals, solvents, VOC’s, or hardeners in Odie’s finishes.

Odie’s Finishes can be used on virtually any surface. This includes, but isn’t limited to wood, concrete, clay, marble, brick, metal, plastic, leather, and epoxy.

All Odie’s products can be used outdoors with the exception of our dark products.

Yes, Odie’s finishes offer UV and mold protection. But, for additional protection we recommend you add Mr. Cornwall’s Creative colours which will act as sunblock. Refresh your piece as needed and be sure to keep the surface clean to reduce any chance of mold growth. We do not recommend Odie’s Dark Finishes for outdoor use.

There are different ways to clean things that are finished with Odie’s products:
-You can mix 1 part vinegar with 10 parts water and clean with a terry cotton cloth.
-You can use soapy water (like dish soap), but remember to rinse all the suds off, and then wipe it dry. Just spray, wipe clean, and dry.

In most instances, you will not have to refresh for many years. But when needed, just clean the surface and a simple light reapplication with one of our finishes is all that is needed.

Yes – but it’s always best to use Odie’s directly on the surface.

Depending on the wood type Odie’s Oil can cover up to approx. 20-30 sqm on most domestic wood species, and over 45 sqm on denser wood species. It is the most efficient finish on the market!

There are a lot of environmental factors that will contribute to preserving the shelf life of your Odie’s Oil. We recommend using a finish preserver such as Bloxygen to lengthen the shelf life of your Odie’s – Bloxygen can be found here.

Our wax is a traditional hard wax, so it’s supposed to be hard.

Yes. You can mix any oil compatible pigment into the Odie’s oil to make a stain, but we recommend Mr. Cornwall’s Creative Colours.

No. You do not need to sand in between layers, but you can if you’d like to.

Cure time for Odie’s Universal and Super Duper light oil: most surfaces can be used within 24 hours and can be exposed to liquids within 3-5 days.
Cure time for the rest of our finishes: your piece can be handled almost immediately after buffing, however we suggest you give it a day or two to further the cure before any use. If you know the piece is going to be exposed to water or liquids, we suggest you give 5 days of cure time for best results.
On exterior decks 4-5 days of dry weather is all that is required.

Your sheen will depend on the quality of finish prep as well as on the sanding grit used. The lower the grit, the more matte the sheen, and the higher the grit, the higher the sheen. When sanding to a higher grit remember not to skip grits.
