It was necessary to test each material and finish that was planned to be used for the new building to provide the utmost quality for the harsh Antarctic environment, including the wood finishing oil. This was not a commissioned study, it was just a group of people dedicated to finding the best product possible. Criteria evaluated throughout the wood finish tests were: lead time, sustainability, appearance, experience, durability, low-maintenance, ease of application, logistics and costs.
Thank you NOAA Fisheries for trusting Odie’s Oil for the new Antarctica Marine Research facility.
