Review

After hearing so many people rave about Odie’s I decided to give it a shot, and thus far I am very impressed. I’ve tried it on white oak, red oak, hard maple, ambrosia maple, black cherry, black walnut, mahogany, ebony, and bubinga, and gone up to 400, 600, 800, and 1000 grit just to see what happens. It looks amazing…plain and simple. Based on my tests I’ll be putting to immediate use on two important commission projects. I’ll likely try more Odie’s products in the future. The bonus part is that it’s non-toxic and actually smells really good.

Application step by step:

  1. Stir up the product in the jar.

  2. Apply the Odie’s Oil finish with a brush, abrasive pad, (steel wool or other), your hands, or a rag. Cover the entire area by only using the bare minimum oil needed. THAT is the key!

  3. Allow the finish to set for no less than 40 minutes and no longer than 20 hours.

  4. Buff off 100% with a cotton cloth/towel. Do the finger swipe test: if your finger leaves no trace, you have wiped it well.

  5. Allow Odie’s to cure for 3 days before use and 14 days before cleaning.

Additional coats of Odie’s products can be applied using these same easy steps above, we suggest waiting 24 hours between coats. Odie’s Oil is easy to use! No sanding or stripping in between coats or for retouching! Wipe on, Wait a while, Buff off. Easy!

A LITTLE ODIE’S OIL GOES A LONG WAY! USE SPARINGLY. “No solvents” means there is almost nothing to evaporate, so what you put on the wood, stays in the wood. Odie’s Oxi Oil covers many, many times the area of other wood finishes. Up to 20 times the coverage as conventional finishes. Coverage will vary depending on wood density and porosity.
